Apart
04:08
|
|||
There's blue above and brown below
Be still my heart and after glow
Time will tell, it just won’t show
The chilling pace at which we’ve grown….
Like broken bones and rusted lines
A voice that’s shot and traffic fines
The rage that’s age, the great decline
The gift of birth, a crooked spine
Wander here, wander there
Wonder why, disappear
Into the fog, kiss the clear
Dry your lips, burn your tears
What's blue above is rot below
What beats in time will cease in flow
Stories fold and no one knows
How those so close could ever grow….
Apart...

Christine
05:05
|
|||
Like the fate of a flower
Or the oceans pounding roar
We’re wandering foot soldiers
Here in life trying to score
Me, I’m too late for the railroad
Babe I don’t dig machines
I’m just a lonely folk singer
Caught up in you, Christine
Be it the heat of suggestion
Or the fear on my brow
I’m told time waits for no one
I say our time is now
‘Cuz I've walked through the valley
Babe I’ve trudged along the shores
I’ve been rolled in some alleys
When I lost count of the pours
But for all that is certain....
See, I’m far, far from green
It’s when the light hits your eyes
And I melt, Christine
Be it the heat of suggestion
Or the fear on my brow
I’m told time waits for no one
I say our time is now
So lay me down slowly
For I’m new to this scene
All I have are my wants
And I tend not to dream

Back To Your Wind
03:04
|
|||
Through times so bright and so dark
Over letters from the heart
Through songs, our bond, it thrived
Through jokes, through tears
In remembrance of the years
We swore that we’d drink the well dry
Now our time has reached the end
I’ll turn my back to your wind
I won’t drink with you again
Baby, goodbye
There’s pain, there’s doubt
I fear time’s running out
Some say our worlds did collide
But I’ve got my life, got my dream
Time to bow out of this scene
For I’ve stared down your storm with just one eye
Now our time has reached the end
I’ll turn my back to your wind
I won’t drink with you again
Baby, goodbye
All the good times they will last
They’ll just live in the past
Fare-thee-well it’s been a blast
Baby, goodbye
For our time has reached the end
I’ll turn my back to your wind
I won’t drink to you again
Baby, goodbye

Sunk In Deep
03:56
|
|||
She told me she thought I was funny
She told me I was kind
She didn’t care I had no money
She said she really dug my mind
She told me once I left her speechless
One time even gazing at the stars
She said she loved our conversations
While her top-forty shit teared through the car
Well it’s time I see, she sunk deep into me
She sunk deep into me every time
She opened her mouth, or kicked me off her couch
So I’m taking you, taking your love, it’s taking time
She hinted I’m in, then came on slowly
Well I played my part, and I threw it all to chance
She’d charm the devil unto holy
Then she'd rob the bastard of all his evil plans.
Well it’s time I see, she sunk deep into me
She sunk deep into me every time
That she opened up her mouth, or kicked me off her couch
So I’m taking you, taking your love, it’s taking time

Chains & Mad Hatters
05:56
|
|||
I had a dream about candied bridges,
Soup kitchens, and Marlboro Reds
And I was friends with Sam Houston,
Dave and Goliath, and Johnny Bench
You had drinks with Pete Seeger
In Rosarito as the sun went down
And there we'd sing songs by John Lennon,
Bob Dylan, and Bozo the Clown
Strange how we find out, it’s love that’s what matters
No point in goin’ it alone
Some say they’ve realized it’s chains and mad hatters
And sweet talkin’ rhymes between the deaf and the blind
‘round a hole
I painted this town with no companion
On a wild stallion wearin’ a thorny crown
You’d been to the top of the highest mountain,
Drank from a whiskey fountain, and you ain’t never looked down
We saw the fall of the greatest hero
Who was labeled a zero in the aftermath
And we saw the rise of Joe criminal
And his ceremonial spreading of ash
Strange how we find out, it’s love that’s what matters
No point in goin’ it alone
Some say they’ve realized it’s chains and mad hatters
And sweet talkin’ rhymes between the deaf and the blind
‘round a hole
So damn long, I wanted you so damn long
Wanted you so damn long, I wanted you so
So damn long, I wanted you so damn long
Wanted you so damn long, I wanted you so

Save A Place
04:29
|
|||
I picked you up from off the mantle
And I could feel you from down the hall
Introduced among the candles
We wept and curled up in a ball
Save, save a place
Save a place for us to fill
I spent my days walking backwards
And all that time I’m thinking I’m right
But you came along and soaked up my sadness
You made damn sure my eyes were wide
Save, save a place
Save a place for us to fill
Save, save a place
Save a place among this thrill
I’ll show you in a light that’s bright and famous
Famous for faith and being true
You sussed me out while I was aimless
Now I pledge myself to you
Save, save a place
Save a place for us to fill
Save, save a place
Save a place among this thrill
Save, save a place (saving it up sometime)
Save a place, I hope you will

Dying Day
05:55
|
|||
Some roadside pride took twenty-five lives
That's when it all began
The dust you could chew while the shrapnel flew
Blowin' arms from their trusty hands
The innocents screamed for civilian means
While the armor made its stand
Planes would fly by poking holes in the sky
Leaking prayer on the dead and damned
This is an ode....
To their dying day
The sun went down in a Jersey town
'round the time the cameras rolled
A hard working man was beat from his tan
His body laid bloodied and cold
It was 7:17 at the hospital scene
When the actress got too bold
She clipped several hundred clams from the soul of his pants
Robbed of dignity, life, and gold
This is an ode...
To his dying day
A sky roaming plane shot through the rain
Crashed in the Karachi hills
Survivors were few from one-fifty-two
The rescuers braved the chill
The trip had been grand, the plane was to land
It was only minutes away
But the weather turned mean, the clouds lost their sheen
The airbus and faithful lay slain
Who's to blame?...
For their Dying Day
Ain't it a shame....
A Massachusetts man took his wife in his hands
You can guess what happened from there
Their child looked on sensing something was wrong
Mom's blood trickled down the stairs
This childhood friends' in a concrete pen
His family ain't no more
Yet the scriptures all say if you kill you must pay
No matter angel, sinner, or whore
This is an ode...
To their dying day
The story's been told...
Some roadside pride took twenty-five lives
That's when it all began...

Annie
03:09
|
|||
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
Don’t blind your eyes again
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
To criticize and cringe
The no holding all scolding is starting to wane
Loves absence is wearing me thin
Seems I lent out my heart to a bag full of veins
Tapped dry by a deep thirst for sin
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
Don’t blind your eyes again
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
To criticize and cringe
Amongst the gadgets and gizmos, bad feet and truckloads
Of fearless, faithless clowns
Who told the tipsy and the merry to steer clear of your ferry
'cuz the anchor was too light to drown
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
Don’t blind your eyes again
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
To criticize and cringe
Annie, I’d never hurt you
I want you to call out my name
Annie, I swear I love you, girl
I forget that you're partially insane
I’m charred, you’re chiseled, you’re fried, I’ve fizzled
Sanctity lies in the ground
I beg, you borrow. Can I see you tomorrow?
Annie, please stick around
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
Don’t blind your eyes again
Wake up sweet Annie, it’s time to rise
To criticize and cringe
Don't criticize me!

Fools Parade
04:34
|
|||
Alone with the shadows, they’re giving me the eye
Sawin’ my nerves with the dullest blade
Trapped behind a window where the lead distorts the light
And the ghost of rumor screams down the alley way
In the fools parade the marchers cry
They cry out “have you no shame?”
They’re a violent wonder, but you’re poison to the eye
And this slate’s been beat to hell where the truth resides
Fearless is desire despite the venom in the air
And the heat it brings would singe the heart of all
For the devil lurks in passion, your sheets they are his skin
Your moan the twisted ring of his evil call
In the fools parade the marchers cry
They cry out “have you no shame?”
They’re a violent wonder, but you’re poison to the eye,
And this slate’s been beat to hell where the truth resides
Afraid to look behind me at the carnage on my trail
All I hoped to reach was higher ground
And the ghosts that stand before me, cast your shadow no more
For the rumor fell like the truth amidst a wounded wail
In the fools parade the marchers cry
They cry out “have you no shame?”
They're a violent wonder, but you're poison to the eye,
And this slate’s been beat to hell, where the truth resides
You're the violent wonder, you're the poison to my eye
And this slate's been blown to hell
Hell...

Damned I'll Be
04:24
|
|||
Her river flows on, it’ll carry me ‘till dawn
Daylight hits, and it’s my turn to walk away
I got the sun in my eyes, south wind steering me right
I’ll take a page from the small town way, steal me somebody’s wife
...and damned I’ll be...all the way
Whiskey still on my brain, I hop the last train
And pray to God I end up in a place I can stay
So won’t you come home with me, and let me do as I please
Again come the daybreak, and I’m already out on the street
Damned I’ll be
Damned I’ll be
Damned I’ll be
All the way
Pray for the afternoon pour, if it would only rain more
The puddle in which I’m standing in, is way too clean for me to taste
The reflection at my feet, well I’m told it’s me
A cheap hotel and a bar stool in hell, might make this whole mess complete
Damned I’ll be
Damned I’ll be
Damned I’ll be
All the way
